TOPIC: PROPHETIC COUNSEL

 TEXT: 1 Sam. 28:3-6

MEDITATION

“And when Saul inquired of the LORD, the LORD answered him not, neither by dreams, nor by Urim, nor by prophets.” 1 Sam. 28:6 Where there is no counsel, the people perish. It was pathetic that Saul went to the battle against the Philistine without Prophetic Counsel.

The Lord did not answer him, neither by the dream, Urim and Thummim nor by the Prophets. Saul knew the necessity of Prophetic counsel but it was unfortunate that the Lord answered him not. Winning battles of life is not by the functions of strength, intelligence, money and so on, it is a matter of the Lord instructing and guiding you. I am always confident in approaching any issue of life when I have instructions from the Lord. Victory over life is in the counsel of the Lord. We see clearly here that Saul perished in this very battle that he went without a word from the Lord. His dynasty ended just like that. David said “He died as if he was not anointed”. Of course Saul was anointed, had military might and resources but the counsel of the Lord was not with him to that Battle. Where there is no vision the people perish. Highlight: Victory over life is in the counsel of the Lord. Prayer: O Lord, let the Word of Your instruction be our guide now and forevermore, amen BENEDICTION: Receive the grace to be processed to become like Christ.
